Pink Shirt Day - Feb 27

Dear Friends and Families,

Language Arts
We continue to talk about different Three Little Pigs stories. We read The Three Ninja Pigs, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs and The Three Little Super Pigs. Ask your child which book they liked the most!

Sometime next week, we will start our building unit. Please check folder for the following notice.

Collecting Recyclables in Kindergarten

Dear Families,

The Kindergarten classes will be starting an inquiry into buildings and structures. Students will be studying the fairytale, “Three Little Pigs” as the basis for our classroom challenge: To build a house that can fit three pigs and stand up against a huffing, puffing wolf.

We are asking students to collect the following recyclable materials from home to bring into the classroom:
- Egg cartons
- Paper towel rolls - the cardboard part (Please no toilet paper rolls)
- Newspaper

Our hope is to gather a large collection of materials for students to experiment with. If you are able to gather any of the above materials from your home, please send them in your child’s backpack.

We look forward to showcasing the beginning of our project at March conferences.

Pink Shirt Day is on February 27, 2019
There was a boy who wore a pink shirt to school and other students in the school was being unkind and saying mean things to him. His friends took a stand and they all decided to wear a pink shirt the next day. This has now become a day that aims to raise awareness for bullying. We need to be kind and be a good friend to everyone. So on Wednesday, February 27th, students are invited to wear a pink shirt.
